The XV dimension represents the precise location of the center trunnion, for an “Intermediate Trunnion Mount” (MT4) cylinder, and where it should be located between the end caps of any square head type Metric cylinder with tie rods. By locating the center line of the trunnion correctly it will allow the cylinder to function properly in those applications where the pivot point of the cylinder is important to extend either the life of the cylinder or the machinery system in which it is connected to. The XV dimension is always measured when the piston of the cylinder is bottomed out against the rear end cover with the stroke retracted. Refer to the below chart which further illustrates this important XV dimension.

Note (1): In the absence of an XV dimension, this configurator will center the intermediate trunnion between the two cylinder end caps, which is our standard.

Note (2): If the extended piston rod feature is also selected for this mount our configurator will include this extension in the in the cylinder part number presented above the solid model picture after configuration. Note that when the extended piston rod or stop tube feature is employed simultaneously with an intermediate trunnion mount, additional confusion becomes present. Please specify the XV dimension under the configurable optional features section of our configurator. If an extended piston rod or stop tube is required, these features must be selected first before selecting the XV dimension. We recommend that you contact Peninsular for discussion when these issues simultaneously occur.
